Christophe Petchanatz (Klimperei)
Christophe Petchanatz (alias Klimperei), músico y escritor, nace en 1959 en Lille, Francia y reside actualmente en Lyon.
Klimperei (tintineo, en alemán) se forma en 1985, con el primer álbum publicado en 1991 'Tout seul sur la plage en hiver' en AYAA, después de algunas cassettes autoeditadas. Alrededor de sesenta referencias (en CD o en vinilo) han sido publicadas desde entonces, algunas de ellas en colaboración (con Pierre Bastien, Madame Patate, Sacha Czerwone, Frank Pahl... por citar unos cuantos). Petchanatz también compone música para televisión, teatro, danza, shows multimedia y ha actuado por todo el mundo.
Ha sido descrito previamente como pionero de la toy-music, maestro naive, experimental, frágil, infantil, neo-clásico, bizarro, avant-garde y un montón de cosas más... No obstante y por diversas razones la música de Klimperei ha evolucionado recientemente. Por una parte, el confinamiento debido al COVID ha transformado la manera en la que trabaja, pero también ha alterado su estado mental. Necesitaba / anhelaba un cambio, romper algunas rutinas relacionadas con el sello 'Klimperei'.
Esta tendencia hacia pistas más oscuras, más ambientales, más experimentales y minimalistas no es, sin embargo, una novedad : todo ello puede ser hallado en sus trabajos más antiguos... aunque ahora posiblemente algo más curtido .

Musician and writer Christophe Petchanatz (aka Klimperei) was born in 1959 in Lille, France, now he is living in Lyon.
Klimperei (strumming, in German) was formed in 1985, with the first album coming out in 1991 'Tout seul sur la plage en hiver' on AYAA, after some self-released tapes. Over sixty albums (CDs or vinyls) were published since, some of them in collaboration (with Pierre Bastien, Madame Patate, Sacha Czerwone, Frank Pahl... to name a few). Petchanatz also creates music for television, theatre, dance, multimedia shows and has toured all around the world.
He has previously been described as a pioneer of toy-music, maestro naivete, experimental, fragile, childish, neo-classical, bizarre, avant-garde and a whole lot more... But for various reasons Klimperei's music has evolved recently. On the one hand, the confinement due to COVID has changed the way he was working, but it also has altered his state of mind. He needed / wanted a change, to break some routines related to the 'Klimperei' label.
This trend towards darker, more ambient, more experimental and minimalist tracks is not, however, new: we find all of this in earlier albums... but probably a bit less matured.
